The visit begins in Parc de la Mar, in front of the Tourist Information Office. There you will enjoy one of the most spectacular photographs of Palma: the Cathedral reflected on the artificial lake that recreates the image of when the sea came below the walls. Then we will discover the most emblematic buildings and neighbourhoods in the city.
This visit offers a historical introduction: from its the origins during the Roman times, its transformation into the great Madina Mayurqa and its conversion to the Christian city.
Besides, history will combine with religious and civil architecture (Mallorca Cathedral, Santa Eulàlia Church, Sant Francesc Basilique, manor houses, squares and official buildings), gastronomy, legends and curiosities of Palma.
All of this is a perfect mix to discover Palma for the first time or to learn a little more about this city on the shores of the Mediterranean.
The visit ends at the municipal market (Mercat del Olivar). There, we suggest you get lost among the food and fresh products stalls of the island; an interesting mix of colours and flavours to end the visit.
The route
The visit begins in the Parc de la Mar, in front of the Tourist Information Office to enjoy one of the most spectacular images of Palma: the Cathedral reflected above of the artificial lake that recreates the image of when the Mediterranean arrived below the walls, to later discover the most emblematic buildings and neighborhoods of the city.
Next, we will go to the Palace Real de l’Almudaina and the Mallorca Cathedral to contemplate its exterior architecture. The next stop will be the magnificent Mallorcan patios , stately homes that represent the power and wealth of the Palma aristocracy.
We will cross important squares where the parish church of Santa Eulàlia and the Palma City Council are located, and of course the Plaza Mayor, located in the very heart of the old town of Palma.
The visit ends at the municipal market of l’Olivar , where it is recommended to get lost among the shelves of food and fresh products of the island; a magnificent mix of colors and flavors to finish the visit.
